Le Petit Poucet plot
A woodcutter and his wife talk about leaving their five children in the forest because there is not enough food. The youngest child, Little Thumb, overhears the conversation and takes small, white stones with him as a precaution to be able to find his way back later. The children pass, but when they are left behind again later and Thumbs leave breadcrumbs instead of stones, the birds eat them. They are forced to wander through the forest and arrive at a house, where they ask for shelter...
