Life as it is with a bipolar single mother. You will just sit there as a child where hopes and disappointments follow one another. Fortunately, they still have each other and it is that bond that comes to the fore in the film. The greatest asset too and the recurring conflict of loyalty. That while as the oldest sister you also struggle with yourself and want to build your own future.
Love and loyalty, easy to pronounce, difficult to apply, let alone maintain. Nice little film from our own soil in which the acting and the interplay stood out in particular.

As a gift from KPN we were allowed to choose a film and so we chose this one. And that turned out to be a very good choice. A beautiful film about an unstable mother and her three growing daughters. All four are very well acted. What is so clever is that all three daughters have their own personality that fits their age, but still have the common sense that they belong together. Just like the mother who is clearly mentally ill, but nevertheless loves her children very much. There is real chemistry between the actresses. And the story builds up nicely without falling into the trap of false sentiment or trying to wring tears from the audience. As far as my French is correct, La Ruche means the beehive. And that is also a well-chosen title. A house in which it buzzes with liveliness, but which you, as an outsider, have no idea about. And also the last story from mother to her daughters is a nice fitting story to end the film. Nice movie this.
