La Question plot
Algiers, 1957. Henri Charlègue is the director of Democratic Algiers, the only local newspaper advocating independence. While going to Mauritius Oudinot, Henri is stopped and taken to a military apartment building. They humiliate and torture him. Henri's wife tries to see him, but in vain. Oudinot is also arrested and dies as a result of the cruel torture. After several months of proceedings, Henri's lawyer obtains the right to visit him and manages to have his agony published, but a short time later the book is banned. Henri was allegedly sentenced for political motives. His complaint is not followed up. In 1961 he manages to escape from prison.
