Kosac plot
Ivo (Ivo Gregurevic) is a quiet worker employed by an agro-industrial conglomerate. He helps a woman whose car (without gas) is stranded on a dark, deserted road. Though he appears in the guise of a savior, the truth is different. Ivo is anything but a hero: he was in prison years ago for raping a woman. Today he is quiet and withdrawn, struggling with his demons and with his past, which he is regularly reminded of by his fellow villagers. The seemingly benign encounter is just the beginning of Ivo's long night. The film tells us three separate stories about the stranded woman, a gas station attendant and a police officer. Each story describes a specific aspect of Ivo's character. The sum of the stories reflects his war-torn and traumatized country. The scars of the war are still fresh. The memories of Croatia's tribulations are still present in village community life. While the villagers are haunted by their shared history, Ivo is haunted by his personal history, which he apparently can never shake off.
