Kolportage plot

In the divorce between Karin Stjernenhö and her husband, Count James Stjernenhö, their son is granted to the mother. However, the count does not want to accept this and tries several times to kidnap the child. Not because of his paternal feelings, but out of ice-cold calculation: the son is heir to a large fortune from his grandfather's estate. That's the only thing James is interested in. When Karin gets wind of this, she saddles her ex-husband with a strange child and flees to the United States with the real son. When she returns twenty years later, she is told that the wrong son of the count is about to marry a noble girl.
