Khaspush plot

When the English obtained a tobacco monopoly in Persia in 1891, this caused unrest among the population. The impoverished farmers and artisans (khaspush), led by the merchants and the clergy, revolt against the Shah. The urban poor are beginning to realize their true class interests. Although the uprising is suppressed, the idea of the necessity of social struggle remains in the minds of the oppressed people.
