Juízo plot
Sharp analysis of the youth justice system in Brazil. An endless row of cases fills the monotonous space of the court. Day in, day out, Judge Luciana Fiala faces the important but nearly impossible task of meaningfully reprimanding and prosecuting young thieves, murderers and con artists. Her impassioned, domineering demeanor is no match for the hopeless situation that the delinquents face, whether they are released or sent to a prison with inhumane living conditions. Minors are not allowed to be filmed in Brazil. That is why Maria Ramos films the real judges, prosecutors, defenders and parents during the trial, but uses them as stand-ins for the young accused.
