Härmä plot
During the nineteenth century, the Ostrobothnia region in western Finland is controlled by groups of knife-wielding bandits. The Välitalo family has a large and prosperous farm. Traditionally, the firstborn son inherits the farm upon the death of the parents, but the eldest son Esko is a drifter and a gang leader of bandits. He would have several murders on his conscience. His younger brother Matti is an exemplary boy who is secretly engaged to Aino, a young woman from a nearby farm. He's better suited to take over the farm. When Esko hears that his father wants to hand over the farm to his brother Matti, all hell breaks loose...
