Haifa plot
Haifa's main character is Haifa the village idiot. At the beginning of the film we see him sitting in the wreckage of a truck, stranded in the desert just outside the camp. He turns the wheel, staring blankly ahead. Haifa's confused aimlessness symbolizes the situation in which the Palestinians live. He wanders around the camp shouting, occasionally giving incomprehensible monologues to benevolent fellow residents, and refusing the food offered to him by the others. His madness is an exaggeration of the confusion of the other residents who also don't know where they stand.
