Zakir works in a prison in Istanbul and is in control of the correspondence. He combines his work with an evening writing course. As inspiration for a writing assignment, he uses a stolen photo of a prisoner's wife named Selma. Zakir observes and makes up stories about her before she quickly becomes an obsession.
