"When everything seems lost, there is always true love"
The chaotic Fem is not only offered a permanent job, but is also proposed to by her childhood sweetheart. She is not ready for that at all and on a whim she books a ticket to India. When she gets cold feet at the airport, she dives into Amsterdam's backpacker scene. How does she get out of this insane lie?

In 2011, just before the smartphone really broke through (and you sometimes had no reception for a week and had to search the internet at Peterpans) in a world without hashtags, I also went backpacking for a few months, but then in Australia. Somewhere the thought was just to do that for a week in Amsterdam. I had hoped to get some of that backpacking atmosphere in this, but that was disappointing. The backpackers in this film are rather more hippie-like people and the scene itself hardly comes into the picture. Too bad, because I didn't see much recognition.
A well-told story, but too fast to get into. This film had good ideas, but also needed at least half an hour extra. Especially around the person of Anna Raadsveld. A bit cliché with her quarter-life crisis - and in itself good material, only that is all rushed. It's that Raadsveld is such a nice person (and she has a beautiful figure, by the way) that you have to go with her, unlike that bag of shit from a friend. Anyway, I found that part with that relationship far from interesting. Nice soundtrack with even Taylor Swift, although with one less song from her. 2.0*, mainly due to disappointment.

Femke [Anna Raadsveld] is unexpectedly offered a permanent contract with the employer she was supposed to leave from and her boyfriend Yorrick [Willem Voogd] asks her to marry him. But fear of living a life that is completely mapped out leads her to the impulsive decision to travel to Mumbai on her own. What should have been a self-discovery journey through India becomes a self-discovery closer to home when she meets fun-loving freebooter Mike [Set Sjöstrand] and his entourage and decides she wants to embark on the adventure with them. Anke Boerstra's screenplay has interesting themes, has entertaining moments and Sjöstrand is excellent as the freebooter. Unfortunately, De With does not manage to curb Raadsveld's exaggerated playing.
