15-year-old Elise has been living with her 38-year-old mother Betty since the accidental death of her father. Betty works as a nurse in the emergency department of a hospital. While she saves lives, her own life escapes through parties, alcohol and short-lived adventures. Elise tries with all her might to keep her life in balance and she finds solace in music. When Betty meets the journalist 39-year-old Ludwig, she thinks she has found the ideal partner. He is also single parent and different from other men....
