Frost plot
On Christmas Eve, seven-year-old Mischa and his young mother Marianne flee the abuse of his drunken father. They secretly leave the house with only 1 suitcase. Marianne thinks back to her childhood in East Germany and decides to return to her native village, hoping to find help, peace and tranquility there. When she thinks she has arrived at her travel destination, an ice-covered landscape looms up. Streams are frozen, the trees stand motionless in the snow. The top of the church tower just sticks out above the winter landscape. Has time completely frozen her native village and covered it with ice, or is Marianne's memory failing her?
