Forbidden Paths plot

Orphaned Mildred Thornton is left in the care of her father's trusted Japanese-American business associate, Sato. Although Mildred shares the deepest friendship with Sato, she does not reciprocate the love he feels for her, preferring instead Harry Maxwell, a young ambassador to Mexico. While at the embassy, Harry is forced into a hasty marriage by the adventurous Benita Ramirez. After discovering his wife's true nature, Harry returns home and realizes that he really loves Mildred, but the vengeful Benita follows him across the border.
