Flames plot
Herbert Landis is sent to oversee the construction of a bridge in Oregon by James Travers, a railroad magnate and father of Anne Travers, with whom Herbert is in love. Herbert is stunned when Anne invites Hilary Fenton, a high-society playboy, to accompany them to a rural encampment where the project's headquarters are located. Anne is cared for by Mrs. Edgerton, who acts as chaperone. Herbert is bewildered by Anne's interest in Hilary, who is courting her in an attempt to gain access to her family fortune. Ole Bergson, Herbert's roommate, devises a plan to make Anne fall in love with Herbert.
