"Can anyone really die from insomnia?"
Arthur Dichter thinks he will die of insomnia. But the reality is much more frightening. He roams the street in search of new ways to keep his body moving, including self-mutilation. He has lost the ability to communicate and keeps a diary to express his thoughts without sharing it with his wife Anna. His wife talks to his doctors who wonder if he has suicidal tendencies. Anna denies this, knowing that he lives in a nightmare where delusions and reality become more and more indistinguishable.
