El Dependiente plot

Fernández, a thirteen-year-old boy, gets a job in a hardware store. At forty-five, he still works at the same store and hopes to take over the business, as the owner has promised him several times. He falls in love with Señorita Plasini, who has inherited her alcoholic father's fortune and leaves Fernández in a state of dependency. That eventually gets on his nerves with disastrous consequences.
