Double Crossed plot
Young Frank Stratton, scion of a wealthy family temporarily short on cash, has borrowed a valuable bracelet and failed to return it. A corrupt detective, Jim Foley, finds the bracelet in Stratton's possession and promises not to arrest him for it in exchange for Stratton's signature on a confession to the theft, which Foley intends to use later. Years pass, and a political boss on the verge of losing an election asks Foley for help in obtaining valuable papers from his opponent, Worthington Lawrence. Knowing that Lawrence is a friend of Stratton's, Foley tells Stratton that Foley will release his signed confession unless he steals the papers.
