Dobu plot
Tsuru has lost her mind and is wandering around. Toku and Pinchan, two men who live in a ditch along a train track, let her live with them. The factory they once worked for has been shut down due to a strike and now they spend their time and money betting on cycling races. Tsuru once worked in a weaving mill, but now has to steal and work in a brothel in Ueno to make ends meet. She is included in the ditch community. Oba, the owner of the land, thinks he can earn 40 times more by filling in the ditch and developing the land. He demands that the residents leave.
