Edward is a teacher at a language institute in Oxford. Edward comes across as very charming, learned and funny, but in reality he is a pathological liar who is relentlessly cunning. Recently, Edward is happier and richer than ever before. This has not gone unnoticed by Police Inspector Moss (James Bolam) of the Oxford CID. He follows Edward in connection with two nearby murders. An innocent invitation to dinner with his friend Dennis and his wife Karen sets off a series of unforeseen events for Edward. Bored and frustrated, Karen decides to spice up their encounter by seducing Edward on the toilet within earshot of her husband, Dennis. The fact that Dennis is around on the next forbidden dates is a must and the thrill for both is not being discovered by Dennis. This results in nearly naked encounters and gives Edward strange ideas...that might lead to murder?
