Die Verlobte plot
The communist Hella Lindau fights with her fiancé Hermann Reimers in the underground against the Nazi regime. In a joint action she is arrested, but she manages to take all the blame and thus protect Hermann. The verdict is ten years in prison for 'committing high treason'. Hella, however, is in danger of succumbing to her solitary confinement. Hermann's efforts to help her continue in vain. When Hella moves to a group after two years, she gets in touch with other inmates and regains hope that Hermann can help her. But then Hermann is also arrested by the Nazis...
