Die Sechs Kummerbuben plot
Gottfried and Sophie Kummer live free and independent with their six children in a modest cottage in the countryside. Although the house has neither light nor running water, and it is heated with wood, the modest wage of a construction worker is not enough to meet all the obligations. The former owner - Mayor Lüthi - still has a debt note on the house, so the Kummer family still has to pay him interest. Gottfried Kummer is unable to pay this interest debt every time. Then a stranger arrives who is interested in the house as a holiday home, and who therefore would like to buy it. For the Kummer family, however, this is their home! Mayor Lüthi now smells the big money and promises the house to the stranger. He gives the Kummers an ultimatum: they must have paid the required interest before the end of the month.
