Die Pilgerin plot
14th century. The young, freedom-loving Tilla Willinger leads a sheltered life as the daughter of a wealthy merchant. But this suddenly changes when her father dies. Her brother Otfried forces her to marry one of his new powerful allies on the city council, the cunning Veit Gürtler, and refuses to carry out their father's will. He wanted, out of concern for his soul, that his heart be transferred to Santiago de Compostela after his death. However, Tilla's sassy husband Veit dies on their wedding night and she is immediately suspected of murder by poisoning. Tilla flees from the parental home with her father's embalmed heart. Dressed as a man, she joins a group of pilgrims and embarks on a perilous journey. What she does not know, however, is that Rigobert, a ruthless henchman of Otfried, is after her.
