Desmundo plot
In 1570, a young orphan girl is given to a Brazilian settler by the Queen of Portugal. Oribela is sent far away to become the wife of sugar beet farmer Francisco de Albuquerque, who is much older than her. Though he does love her, Francisco is an unkempt man who lives in a strange household with his mother and sister. Oribela does everything she can to escape until she accepts the help of the slave trader Ximenes to sail back to Portugal.
