Desiree plot

Desiree's life has come to a complete standstill. The destructive influence of the relationship with her mother and the minimal existence is especially apparent within the walls of her apartment in Brooklyn, New York. Flashbacks from her childhood give the viewer an idea of what happened. When Desiree becomes captivated by Father Diego and his cult after her mother's death, it gives her a sense of self-worth. At the same time, the strict regulations of this community destroy her relationship with Freddy. Freddy is the doorman of the apartment building where Desiree cleans for a white lady. When Desiree turns out to be pregnant with Freddy, she is driven to despair by Father Diego. This drama is based on a short report from a New York newspaper from 1980. It is a tribute to the tragedy of an unknown black woman.
