Der Mauerschütze plot

The disbanded GDR casts its shadow to the present: doctor Stefan (Benno Fürmann) has lived in Hanover for years, but it gnaws at his conscience that he once shot a refugee as a GDR border soldier. Silke (Annika Kuhl), the widow of the deceased man, lives in eastern Germany, on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom. One day Stefan decides to visit her. Both fall in love, but there's a problem: Silke doesn't know that Stefan killed her husband.
