Der Hauptmann von Köln plot

In the fifties, the unemployed waiter Albert Hauptmann is confused with the Hauptmann Albert of the German army, who has returned from Argentina. Old comrades honor him as a hero and want to pave the way for a brilliant career for him. The little waiter immediately seizes this opportunity. He becomes director and fellow member of the German Bundestag. But there is also the real Albert, who now lives under the name Karjanke because of his war crimes. He can convince the fake Albert Haupman to have an amnesty law passed in parliament. Now Karjanke can leave his incognito life behind. He brings the waiter Albert Hauptmann to court as a scammer...
