David Harding, Counterspy plot
"SABOTAGE! TREACHERY! INTRIGUE!"
During the Cold War, a radio commentator is interrupted during the broadcast by David Harding for providing incorrect information. Harding tells the radio commentator the facts. Rugged Navy Lieutenant Jerry Baldwin is seconded to Counterintelligence to investigate espionage activities at a torpedo building company. Baldwin's previous counter-spy and classmate from Annapolis, Phil Iverson, had been found dead at this torpedo company. Iverson allegedly smoked in bed and fell asleep. Baldwin falls in love with Betty, Iverson's widow, who rekindles a good relationship with George Vickers, a specialist at the factory. Are Betty and George spies?
