Danton plot

France during the Revolution. In the dispute over what to do with King Louis XVI, the highest pressure is being exerted by the radical forces surrounding Danton and Marat. After the king's execution, there is a wave of arrests and mass executions. But when Danton falls in love with the noblewoman Louise Gély during a prison inspection, he becomes very vulnerable towards his opponent Robespierre.
