Dadah Is Death plot

On November 9, 1983, Kevin Barlow (John Polson) and Geoffrey Chambers (Hugo Weaving) were arrested at an airport in Malaysia for carrying heroin, a crime punishable by death in that country. The film tells the true story of mother Barbara Barlow (Julie Christie) who desperately tries to rescue her son from that plight, a courageous battle that even involved then-President Reagan, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II.
