"The Love Story of Marie Walewska"
In 1807 Napoleon visits Poland. There he meets Countess Walewska. Later she visits Napoleon and has a secret affair with him. When her husband finds out, he wants to divorce her. Then Countess Walewska becomes Napoleon's mistress.

Good film that opens grandiosely with the Cossacks' raid on Walewska's residence.
Indeed, in the second act it all collapses a bit. Especially because of Greta Garbo's distant lovemaking, which I've never been a big fan of.
Fortunately, Napoleon played by a great Charles Boyer remains interesting enough not to fall asleep.
And thank goodness there is a French version!
