Christian IV plot
A dive into the tempestuous marriage of King Christian IV and Kirstin Munk, from the fledgling infatuation to the intense hatred they developed for each other. A journey through sin, jealousy and reconciliation. It is 1646 when the king of Denmark is dying. Weak and fragile, he travels one last time by horse and carriage to his beloved capital Copenhagen. He has Kirsten, whom he has been imprisoned for years since their violent divorce. He wants her to sign a document admitting her infidelity, in hopes of repairing his own bleak image. In exchange for her signature, he promises to release her. But with the arrival of the woman he loves and hates so deeply, their past flares up again.
