Boca plot
Journalist Jennifer James travels to Rio de Janeiro to cover the murder of thousands of street children. Reb, the cameraman who is with Jennifer, is an old lover of hers. They agree that they will put their feelings for each other aside and focus fully on their work. But then Jennifer gets the attention of a homicidal drug trafficker beloved in his town for performing Robin Hood-esque acts for the street kids. She falls for his charms, but soon finds out that he is by no means a saint. Reb worries about her, but he's not the only one who does. A mysterious American shows up and tells Jennifer that her life is in danger and that she must leave Rio.
