Bleeke Bet plot

Bet - who is called Bleeke Bet despite her bright red face - has a greengrocer in the Jordaan. She is known throughout the neighborhood as a good, but short-tempered woman. Her daughter Jans is dating Ko Monjé against her mother's will, a cheerful, albeit rather wild young man. Bet's husband Tinus is cold; anyone who buys him a drink may become his son-in-law.
