Birdshot plot
15-year-old Maya works with her father on a remote farm in the Philippines. While walking alone through the mountains, she shoots and kills an endangered Philippine eagle, a protected national symbol. Not realizing that she is committing a crime, she proudly takes the bird home. Shortly after, authorities begin a manhunt to find the eagle's killer. During the investigation, the police stumble upon another disturbing case: they find an abandoned passenger bus in a remote corner. Meanwhile, Maya's father is arrested. Maya escapes the police and hides in the woods. She hears the cry of an eagle and follows the sound, which leads her to a horrifying discovery.
