Barrymore plot

Film adaptation of William Luce's play of the same name. Stage actor John Barrymore rehearses for the revival of his 1920 Broadway triumph in Shakespeare's "Richard III." But it is now 1942 and Barrymore is long past his peak, does not have long to live and is usually doing anything but rehearsing. He drinks, jokes, reminisces about his family and wives, and shares memories of his profession. A stage director stands patiently in the wings and has to prompt regularly.
