August plot

It's a balmy August and the Davies household has visitors. Ieuan Davies (Anthony Hopkins) has fallen passionately in love with Helen Blaithwaite (Kate Burton), but his love remains unrequited. His niece Sian (Rhian Morgan) is secretly in love with Dr. Lloyd (Gawn Grainger), an idealistic, conservative man who is tired of rural life by the day. dr. Lloyd, however, like Ieuan, has his sights set on the beautiful Helen. Both Ieuan and Lloyd seek refuge in booze and emotions quickly run high. Slowly but surely, the Victorian calm in the Davies household begins to crumble over the course of one weekend.
