Apron Strings plot
The story focuses on two different New Zealand families, each with their own problems. After an argument, the sisters Anita and Tara no longer speak to each other. Tara now has her own eatery and Anita is the star of a popular Indian TV cooking show. The lives of both sisters are turned upside down when Anita's son Michael wants to learn more about his family and meet Tara. In the town of Otahuhu, hardworking Lorna runs an old-fashioned pie shop. She lives with her unemployed, 35-year-old son Barry who spends most of his time betting on horses and drinking with his friends. Lorna tries to push him in the right direction, but it's not that easy.
