Alone plot
John Webb is an older Texas farmer. When his wife dies, John decides to spend the rest of his days alone on his farm. Unfortunately, the peace is short-lived. An oil tycoon suspects that a large amount of oil is under John's estate. He asks John for permission to drill and in return offers him a substantial sum of money. John, however, sees little in the offer. This is much to the dismay of his family, who do not want to let the fortune pass them by.
