"One dinner. Seven phones. How many secrets?"
Seven good friends get together for a nice dinner. What starts as a fun evening changes when someone proposes to play a game: everyone puts their phone on the table and everything that comes in that evening has to be shared with the whole group. When the messages come in, they get to know each other from a completely different side. The mutual tension rises. What do they have to hide and how well do the friends actually know each other?

Surprising.
The reaction against an LGBTI+ person coming out of the closet does look a bit dated in these sophisticated circles, however, a bit un-Dutch and dated.
And do we really only have affairs to hide from each other? Why isn't anyone involved in some nasty unethical business, insider trading or Third World body parts or something?
Or someone who is being blackmailed or threatened? Not the time to leave your phone lying on the table either.
Or, just an ex who calls you rotten fish, an employer who is very dissatisfied with you, while you are always cutting up on how well you are doing, the doctor who asks if you really don't want that chemo, something you wanted to keep hidden from everyone, or just… well there is so much more to come up with.
So: again, but better this time

For some reason I missed all previous versions of 'Perfetti Sconosciuti' (2016), so I went into 'Alles op Tafel' (2021) fairly blank. Actually mainly because Eva Crutzen and Diederik Ebbinge from 'Promenade' have a role in this ensemble drama. 'Alles op Tafel' (2021) has a strong concept with one friends evening in which tensions rise because they decide to share all emails, WhatsApp messages and text messages with each other. You can guess that all kinds of liaisons come to the surface and the friends wonder if they still like each other so much if they know each other's deepest secrets. Unfortunately, the acting is not strong enough across the board to shape such a minimal story. Personally, I was most disturbed by the contrast of an overacting Ramsey Nasr against fellow actors who we mainly know from television productions. The one is clearly busy playing 'a role' while the other has been cast with a character that is close to his own image. It makes 'Alles op Tafel' (2021) feel far too artificial and forced for a production where a lot depends on the chemistry between the actors.
