A Dream or Two Ago plot

During a robbery at a jewelry store, 6-year-old Millicent Hawthorne, daughter of a wealthy family, falls on her head. She is taken and raised by Mother Gumpf, the leader of the gang of thieves. Due to the fall, Millicent suffers from amnesia but at night she dreams for her former rich existence while during the day she works for Gumpf as a pickpocket and later as a cabaret dancer. A friend of the Hawthornes sees her performance and reports it to her family, who will do anything to get her back.
