Struggling with drug addiction in contemporary New York City, an artist and his friend complete a spiritual journey started 140 years earlier on the Underground Railroad. Santo is a resident with a lot of knowledge of the street, who writes down his dreams in a diary. One day, when Santo leaves his apartment, his brother Benny shows up with news that their mother is in the hospital. Meanwhile, Santo's best friend Hunter is preparing for his first exhibition.
