What do you do when you feel 'jet lagged' in your own time zone? Filmmaker Alan Berliner works at night and barely gets to sleep even after that. He always feels tired, from an early age. Now that he's going to be a father, he wants to know if it's hereditary. Can he regain a normal rhythm so that he can also see his child in the morning hours? Thorough as he is, Berliner makes an inventory of his complaints. 'Wide Awake' is a film full of interviews, archive footage, family films and personal observations. In rhythmic image sequences, provided with sound effects, music or his own ironic commentary, he edits his search into a colorful diary.
