When Comedy Went to School plot
Why are there so many Jewish comedians? When Comedy Went to School answers this question with an entertaining portrait of America's greatest generation of comedians, including Jerry Lewis, Sid Caesar, Jackie Mason, Mort Sahl and Jerry Stiller. They all appeared on the silver screen and told their jokes and stories. Answers are also found in New York State's Catskill Mountains, also known as the Borscht Belt or Jewish Alps, where Jewish immigrants turned the ripe farmlands into the largest luxurious vacation resort of the 20th century. The Catskill hotels and bungalow parks were the starting point for a remarkable group of young comedians who later became global legends.
