What They Found plot

In the spring of 1945, Allied troops pushed deep into the collapsing Third Reich. Young sergeants Mike Lewis and Bill Lawrie documented the advance through Germany with a British Army special film unit. At Belsen in the province of Hanover, they came across a concentration camp with mass graves, unburied bodies and tens of thousands of emaciated and sick prisoners. In this documentary, director Sam Mendes combines the film footage with audio recordings of an interview with Lewis and Lawrie from the 1980s.
