What Is Left? plot

Italian directors Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi attempt to define the identity of the political left, whose values seem to have lost their old-world appeal. After World War II, Italy had the largest communist and later socialist party in the west. Efforts to improve social and economic conditions for all Italians brought much electoral success and influence to the party. The filmmakers try to find out why their country has now become so stubbornly conservative and what has happened to its once proud leftist movement.
