Germantown High and Martin Luther King High high schools have been bitter rivals for more than 40 years. Over the past year, a financial crisis in Philadelphia has caused more than 4,000 government employees to be laid off and two dozen schools closed, including Germantown High. Germantown must now merge with their former rival, King.
