Waiting for Sancho plot
In this 'making of film' about Albert Serra's feature film 'El Cant dels Ocells', director Mark Peranson provides insight into how Serra's oeuvre comes about. Serra barely works from a script and leaves his amateur actors and crew, all from a small town outside Barcelona, in the dark about the exact intentions of his film. He assumes a basic ambition; in this film, for example, he wants to strip the biblical story of the Three Wise Men of any dramatic smokescreen in order to turn the three men's quest into a pure act of unknowing surrender. Peranson, who himself plays the Hebrew-speaking Joseph in an otherwise Catalan spoken film, observes the crew and actors in their improvisational search for the best shot.
