Vlast (Power) plot
The fall of the Soviet Union created a volatile but highly favorable environment for young Russian businessmen eager to build the nascent market economy by any means necessary. Thanks to extraordinary deals with the government, a small group of men recently acquired privatized companies and became phenomenally rich in a short time. The most successful of these oligarchs was Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who quickly became the richest man in Russia. However, Khodorkovsky invested not only in business, but also in real social reforms and a new ideal of an open society, an attitude that clashed with the absolute rule of Vladimir Putin... This documentary traces the evolution of Russian political power through the rise and fall of oil tycoon Mikhail Borisovich Khodorkovsky.
