Verliebte Feinde plot

Iris Meyer, a young and very attractive women's rights activist, falls in love with the influential Catholic intellectual Peter von Roten. Against the wishes of Peter's family, the two decide to get married. But soon he outsmarts her every time and Iris feels annoyed in her classic role of wife. After a violent argument with Peter, she decides to go to America.
